Year 5 and 6 - See What CHS Has to Offer

Congleton High School will be holding its annual Open Evening on Thursday 28th September from 6.30pm until 8.30pm and are inviting all local year five and year six pupils to bring their parents and see for themselves all the exciting opportunities the school has to offer them from age eleven to eighteen.

The evening will begin with a brief presentation at 6.30pm, repeated at 7.30pm, by head of school, Mr Barlow, supported by current students from across the school. This will give a good overview of the school, its ethos and its successes and help to give a better understanding of how all the individual curriculum areas and the school work together to nurture and develop each individual student. It will also be an opportunity for Congleton High students to demonstrate their skills and showcase their talents, with performing arts students entertaining with musical and drama performances.

Guests will be invited to tour the school to experience the vibrant education environment and see the outstanding facilities. Every curriculum area will feature displays of current work to give a flavour of what is expected from students whilst studying those courses and there will be lots of chances for visitors to get involved with the activities running throughout the school. In addition to trying their hand at various sporting activities, visitors to the school’s Sports Hall will be able to see the state-of-the art 3G pitch and spectator stand along with the latest fitness equipment available to students in the Fitness Suite.

Although a long way off, pupils and parents alike will be keen to know what happens after year eleven.  Many students opt to take an academic route at sixteen plus, whilst others prefer to pursue a vocational pathway and Congleton High can accommodate both these requirements with an unrivalled range of academic courses and practical, vocational qualifications. Open evening guests will be able to visit the purpose built Post 16 centre to discuss the wide range of options available to them once they have completed mainstream education.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the teaching team and discuss any issues and questions they have. Many of the staff will already be familiar to the children as the school has a comprehensive programme of ’Discovery Days’, running activities and events for partner primaries, helping to smooth the transition from primary to secondary school.  In addition, current Congleton High students and parents will be on hand to answer any questions and share their own views and experiences of the school.

Guests will also be able to discover how the school supports high achieving students throughout their learning journey, from their very first day, right up to the sixth form with the school’s High Achievers programme.

Invitations have been sent to all the school’s partner primaries but the evening is open to any children of Year Five or Six age and their parents. For more information, call the school on (01260) 730123.
