Wide Range of Post 16 Opportunities Highlighted at Open Evening

As students in Year Eleven look forward to life after GCSEs, they will be keen to discover what Congleton High has to offer Post 16 students to help set them on their journey to a successful and rewarding career.

As the largest local provider of Post 16 education in the town, Congleton High has a proven track record of excellence and prides itself on its exceptional quality of teaching and student outcomes. As noted by Ofsted in its last report:
“The school gets as much delight from a student achieving an apprenticeship in a local engineering firm as from another who gets a place at Oxford or Cambridge.”

Congleton High offers a huge range of Post 16 courses to suit all interests and aptitudes. There really is something for everyone, with students able to choose from a varied menu of A Levels, including Politics, Photography and Sociology, alongside the sciences, History and English, to name but a few.

Alternatively they can opt for vocational BTEC courses like Sport, Engineering and Childcare, with students benefitting from strong links to local employers as part of The Congleton College. There is even the option to ‘mix-and-match’ academic and vocational subjects for truly tailor-made education.

All students receive impressive one-to-one personal support and guidance, with strong staff/ student working relationships. The highest achieving (at least five GCSE Level 7/8/9 or A*/A grades) are invited to join the aspirational ‘Honours Programme’, a scheme designed to ensure individuals are able to fully realise their potential.

Along with current Congleton High students, applications are also invited from those currently studying at other schools. Previous years have shown that external candidates find a warm welcome and that they quickly settle in and enjoy success.

Financial support is available if required, making it less of a struggle for students to remain in education after sixteen and school buses from all surrounding areas including Mow Cop, Biddulph and Kidsgrove, mean that transport is not an issue.

For more information and to see the purpose built facilities, come along to the Post 16 Open Evening on Tuesday 21st November from 6.30 - 8.30pm or visit the Post 16 Section of the website - www.congletonhigh.com.
