Maisie Joins Commonwealth Handover Ceremony

If you were lucky enough to catch the Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony and Handover from the Gold Coast, Australia to Birmingham, England, you may have seen on of our Year 12 students, Maisie Kearney, who was lucky enough to secure a place to dance in the Birmingham ceremony.

Maisie had heard about the event via social media and, as an experienced dancer, decided to try for a chance to take part in what would be an amazing experience and opportunity. She auditioned along with hundreds of others and was lucky enough to get a place to dance in the ceremony.

The team rehearsed at Edgbaston over the Easter break and finally got the chance to perform at the closing ceremony and handover at Victoria Square, Birmingham. Their performance, dancing to ELO's Mr Blue Sky, was beamed live across the world and to the ceremony taking place on Sunday 22 April in Australia.
