Our Specialist Status
Congleton High School has been a Specialist School of Engineering since 2004.
Our Engineering specialism contributes to our unique ethos and is a real strength of the school.
As a Specialist School of Engineering, we are committed to raising achievement and improving provision and participation in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), as well as across the whole curriculum. This means that we have worked hard to raise standards of teaching and learning and have increased the range of Engineering and Science related courses offered to students.
Our Specialist Engineering Status has also allowed us to extend opportunities for vocational learning and enrichment for our students through links with our sponsors, local employers, colleges, universities and other organisations, large and small, including Siemens, Bentley Motors, Total People, Berisfords Ribbons, Pecks Restaurant, Busch GVT, Hans Lingl, Arkwright Scholarships and Nuffield Science Research placements.
We are extremely proud of our links and grateful for the support of these companies and organisations, which are involved in providing specialist training programmes and Engineering scholarships, providing professional support for clubs and challenge events and organising competitions for students within school.
As a Specialist school, we also have a commitment to our local and wider community. We work collaboratively with our partner schools, employers and other local groups, to provide or facilitate high quality learning opportunities in the STEM subjects, such as our Year 5 Crest Superstars programme in conjunction with the British Science Association
