Congleton High School was most recently inspected by Ofsted on 16th and 17th December 2014. Inspectors spent 2 days at the school and made a number of judgements linked to various aspects of school life. We are extremely proud that the school was graded as ‘good’ in all of the judgements and retained its status as a ‘GOOD’ school:
|Leadership and management||Good|
|Behaviour and safety of pupils||Good|
|Quality of teaching||Good|
|Achievement of pupils||Good|
|Sixth Form provision||Good|
The report praises some of the many strengths of the school, including:
"The school's work to keep pupils safe and secure is outstanding."
"Pastoral support from staff is very strong."
"There is a very strong culture of care and nurture which is appreciated by both students and parents."
"The leadership of the sixth form is strong."
"The school prepares students very well for life in modern Britain."
"Students are welcoming and positive and there is a strong sense of community."
"Student voice is a strength of the school."
"Parents are very positive about the work of the school and home-school partnerships are strong."
It also suggests areas for development and recognises that “There is good capacity for the school to continue to improve.” These suggestions are in line with our own improvement plans and so we will continue to press on with our development work in order to strengthen the school even further. “Senior leaders know the school well. The school’s view of its own performance is accurate and based on strong quantitative evidence.”
CHS has now been graded as a ‘Good’ school since 2010 when Ofsted carried out its last full inspection. We are delighted that they have confirmed that our work in safeguarding students remains ‘outstanding’ – “The school’s work to keep pupils safe and secure is outstanding.” This strength of the school was highlighted in a ‘best practice survey’ on Safeguarding in Schools carried out in October 2010. An inspector looked at our outstanding practice in safeguarding and the findings were used to contribute to a publication about best practice in safeguarding in schools. Thank you to all parents who provided feedback to Ofsted by completing their online Parentview questionnaire. Parents and carers may be interested to know that you can give your views of our school to Ofsted at any time of the school year and not just during an inspection. All you need to do is register with an email address and password at http://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk. Once your login has been activated, it only takes a few minutes to complete answers to 12 short questions about the school, such as how well we deal with bullying, the quality of teaching, whether the level of homework given to your child is appropriate, and whether you would recommend the school to other parents. Thank you.
If you do not have a computer or an email address or if you would like help to use Parent View, please come into school and ask at reception.
