Options for GCSE and BTEC Courses

In Year 9, students select their GCSE and BTEC subject options for Year 10 and 11. We will hold an Options Evening for students, parents and carers at the end of January (see our Key Dates). Following this, all the information on the subject options and the Option request form will be available to download on the right and also on the Curriculum page of our website.

For 2020/21 Year 9 students, we will hold an online Parent/Carer Evening on Wednesday 27th January. Prior to this, we have sent out copies of the Options Booklet and the Parent/Carer Presentation (see downloads on the right) and also asked for Parents/Carers to complete an Expression of Interest form, which indicates the subject teams with whom you require a Parent/Carer Evening appointment for more information (click here for a copy of the form). NB: This is NOT the final Options selection, just a chance to find out more about the subject and the course. Please complete this form by Monday 18th January, selecting up to ten subjects. You will then receive a link to book appointments with the curriculum teams you have selected.

Our Careers and Guidance Leaftlet, available on our Careers and Higher Education Guidance page, contains a number of useful sources of information and advice on choosing options.

The Job of the Week information put together by Mrs Sadat-Shafai, our Work Placement Coordinator, also gives a good indication of the qualifications required to pursue different careers. These can also be located in our Careers and Higher Education Guidance pages.

In addition to form tutors. Guidance Team Leaders and subject tutors are all available to discuss subject choices with students and Parents/Carers.
