September 2021 Transition

We look forward to welcoming our new Year 7 students to CHS.

The current Coronavirus restrictions mean that we may be unable to invite you in to school for all our normal Transition events. However, we have been lucky enough to spend time with the majority of you in previous years in our many primary school activities, so most of you will already be familiar with the school and many of the teaching and support teams.

Throughout May, Mrs Darling (one of our Deputy Headteachers) and Miss Franks (our Pastoral Support Lead) will be visiting all our new starters in their primary schools. They'll talk with you in groups and individually to answer any questions you have and, very importantly, find out more about you, your likes and dislikes and your friendship groups. They'll then use this information to help put you all in to Year 7 tutor groups, containing some of your primary school friends, when you start in September.

We will hold our 2021 New Intake Discovery Day on Thursday 1st July, when all the Year 6 pupils who have accepted a place at our school will be invited to spend a full day with us here, meet their Form Tutors and take part in a variety of lessons and activities. We will also hold a New Intake Information Evening for Parents and Carers from 6:00pm on Thursday 8th July, which will include a short presentation and an introduction to form tutors.

For more information on the Transition Discovery Day and our Parents/Carers Information Evening, please refer to the letter given to Year 6 students during our New Intake Primary School visits in May (see downloads to the right of this page), or contact Miss Franks via the School Office or by email (click the link in Staff Contact to the right of the page).

Parents and carers will now be starting to think about uniform. All our uniform can be purchased from DP Sportswear on Bromley Road, Congleton (You can find their full address and opening hours in the DP Sportswear Information document on the right hand side of the page). Our Uniform List, Uniform Guidance and a DP Sportswear Price List are also available to the right hand side of the page or on the School Uniform page in the Parent/Carer Area of this website.

DP Sportswear have also put together a helpful short video on the CHS Girls' and Boys' uniform and PE kit, and you can watch this here.

Parents or carers who may be struggling to cover the cost of uniform can apply to the John Holford Charity for assistance and you can find out more information on eligibility and how to apply here.

Please note: For 2021, uniform fittings at DP Sportswear are by appointment only, via their website: www.dpsportswear.co.uk. Please click here to watch a short video on the appointment booking process.

We have put together a series of short films to help you familiarise yourself with Congleton High School and get a real flavour of what will be on offer when you start with us in September. At the end of each film, our current Year 7 students talk about their own thoughts and experiences as new starters and throughout their first year as part of our school community. (Click below to play each film.)
